In a time of population growth and probable economic growth the scripture here mentions something very unnatural and wicked happened. The sons of God took the daughters of men for wives and married them and started to produce children. Although there are different interpretations of what this passage means with some saying it means godly people as the sons of God married ungodly people the daughters of men and compromised the values of the godly people. If this was so, though, why weren't at least the godly people themselves saved at the flood in the Ark of Noah and only Noah and his wife and his sons and their wives? Although quite fantastic I think a more accurate interpretation and one that also has more scriptural support is that the sons of God were demons or fallen angels and the daughters of men were human women that the sons of God in human form had sex with and produced hybrids and half breed (fallen) angel human offspring. This was the view of the Septuagint the early Greek Bible, Josephus, the writer of the Book of Enoch and the ancient Jewish commentators on the Bible and earliest Christian commentators according to the book The Genesis Record by Henry Morris. Augustine was one of the earliest popularizers that the sons of God was the line of Seth and his views became adopted into the Roman Catholic Church and much of the Protestant Church. Although some people object to this interpretation using the statement of Jesus that angels don't marry in Matthew 22 and Luke 20, especially in Luke 20 it is stated that the believers it is talking about and by implication the angels are those that are worthy of that world, the world to come. However fallen angels when they followed Lucifer or the devil or Satan in his rebellion against God as in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 showed that they were not worthy of the world to come and God at least basically cast them out of heaven or for eternal rights to live there. Also from what other scriptures mention about the fallen angels it is clear they don't feel bound to obey God or respect his commandments, values or limitations of which they probably here as the sons of God taking human women for wives to have sex and children with is a prime example. Also the other main occurences of the phrase the sons of God in the Old Testament occur in Job 1, 2 and 38 and all have to do with angels including fallen angels so considering fallen angels as the meaning here in Genesis 6 is more consistant with other Old Testament use of the term. Also angels could appear in human form as in Genesis 17 to 19 in the judgment of Sodom, the angel measuring the temple in Ezekiel or the angels associated with the birth and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Finally God would be quite concerned that the line of the Messiah could be corrupted if this intermarriage and crossbreeding of fallen angels and humans became too widespread and therefore made it impossible to have a godly line through which the Messiah would come and offer redemption buying back from sin or salvation to the human race. Therefore this is probably one reason God sent the flood to destroy the human race except godly Noah and his family and another point in favour of the interpretation of these sons of God being fallen angels. Also later on Jesus says in Matthew 24 and Luke 17 that the days of the coming of the Son of Man would be as the days of Noah particularly mentioning marriage in the days of Noah. This could mean there will be a similiar corruption of marriage leading up to Jesus' second coming which is probably already happening and getting worse with alien encounters and alien abductions that often involve sex with the aliens and abducted humans by some reports resulting in offspring called hybrids. From all things considered about the behaviour of these aliens including their deceptive or elusive nature and their using or manipulating people, their not being seen to come directly from outer space or show themselves or their spaceships or associated material objects very openly and their almost always giving a message of a false gospel that Jesus is just one of many gods or religious teachers and denying the message of salvation through Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection these aliens are almost surely also demons or fallen angels. Also the reference in Jude 6 about the angels that kept not their first estate and perhaps the spirits in prison in 1 Peter 3 could likely be the demons or fallen angels that attempted to corrupt the human race by marrying human human and having sex with them to create a distorted race of demon human hybrids and provoke God to judge the world then with a flood also to preserve a godly Messianic line through Noah. It is also significant that the offspring of the sons of God and daughters of men seemed to have exceptional and abnormal strength or might with them being called men of renown (bad) reputation and mighty men. The scripture in verse 4 says there were giants also after this. This probably could have been later added by Moses to relate the giants of his day such as the Anakim to the giants that were in the days of Noah from the sexual relations with the sons of God and the daughters of men. The passage uses the expression ALSO after this meaning there were giants after the flood as well as in the days just before the flood. The mention of giants after the flood does not mean that these giants were descendants of people before the flood but could be just regular genetic variation or could mean that there was some demonic interference on a more limited level also after the flood such as with Anak the founder of the Anakim or with the founder of the giant race of the Zanzumins or similiar people. This is also according to the Genesis Record by Henry Morris. The scripture reference to these sons of God marrying human women and bringing into the world abnormal and mighty offspring as one probably cause for the flood of Noah in Genesis 6 is as follows:
A no less fantastic but not nearly as well scripturally supported interpretation of these sons of God that married the daughters of men is the idea by popular and well regarded New Age writer Zechariah Sitchen and others that these sons of God or gods are aliens, extraterrestrials or ancient astronauts. These are called by Zechariah Sitchen "Anunnaki" meaning (those who) from heaven to earth came. Although An is the Sumerian (the Biblical Shinar or southern Iraq) name for their god of heaven and Unak is the name for their god of Earth and the sexual relations of these sons of God with the daughters of men did probably give rise to superhuman mighty giants "the Nephilim" which is the Hebrew word for giants as mentioned in the preceding paragraph the use of the term sons of God elsewhere in the Old Testament or Hebrew Bible mostly in the book of Job is as angels especially fallen angels or demons. There is no evidence here or anywhere else in the Bible that there were aliens or astronauts of vastly superior intelligence to humans that gave humans much of their understanding in engineering or other science and technology although this understanding could be given by the God of the Bible or holy angels or other side demons and this could still be going on today. Also the Anaki in the scripture are described as a race of giants after the flood of Noah but the people chosen by God to survive the flood were probably free of the corruption of the human DNA being introduced by the sons of God (which the Bible says are demons) since God wanted to preserve an uncorrupted remnant of humanity to repopulate the flood and judge the human race which was being rapidly increasingly fully being corrupted by the sons of God intermarrying with the daughters of men before the whole human race was corrupted and God would have to completely start over again to maintain an uncorrupted human race and genetic code (and to have a pure genetic code in the line from Eve to the Messiah as in Geneses 3:15). Also humanity didn't need supposed ancient astronauts as the sons of God to give them more knowledge or understanding in engineering or other natural or social sciences or engineering since there was already a significant degree of civilization in the human race and society before the flood as conveyed by the description of the Cainanite or pre-flood civilization of Genesis 4 that included agriculture, refining metals and making and using musical instruments. The Anakim race of giants after the flood if their giant characteristics is truly unnatural and ungodly as was probably the case as God wanting the Israelites to wipe them out could be a result of demonic corruption of some of the descendants of the survivors of the flood. Anakim means from the Hebrew "a necklace (as if strangling) : a chain" from Strong's Concordance of the Bible. It is just a coincidence that Anakim and Anunnaki have similiar spelling and sound in English but the meanings are very different so they are likely not related. Although Zechariah Sitchen and other New Age writers that promote the ancient astronaut theory including using this passage in Genesis 6 claiming the sons of God are ancient astronauts or aliens or extraterrestrials that married human women might sound appealing or even in the case of Zechariah Sitchen scholarly with his claimed use of Hebrew and the ancient Sumerian (Shinar) language he comes with a clear anti-Judaeo-Christian bias and is willing to bend the interpretation of this and other passages of the Bible and probably of Sumerian and other ancient writings or images to suit his purposes. The scripture text of this passage about the sons of God taking the daughters of men for wives and perhaps giving birth to giants from Genesis 6 in the King James Version of the Bible is as follows:
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare them children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:1-4
God looked at the world condition before the flood and probably considered whether by less drastic means he could reform or salvage human society and values but he came to the conclusion that their wickedness was great so that all he could do was deliver some godly people who still followed him and his values and representatives or earth's animals with them and start the human race and the animal kingdom afresh with them after a worldwide judgment that would sweep away all the evil world system existing before at that time and not showing signs of improvement. God accomplished this with the worldwide flood. This is not just in the Bible but also in various versions in the ancient history or religious stories many people all over the earth. God also saw that not just the words or actions but even the thoughts of almost all people were evil continually in the society in Noah's time before the flood. The scripture then said it repented God that he made man or he regretted that he made man and it grieved him in his heart but why does it say that he also regretted or repented of making the animals. I myself wondered about this until I started to hear from Jewish theologians and Bible teachers that is was because humans were having sex or other perversion such as idolatry with animals perhaps giving rise to other abnormal crossbreeds such as satyrs (goat man hybrids) or centaurs (horse man hybrids) or lion man hybrids that the Egyptian sphynx after the flood could be a memorial to. The sign of Sagittarius that was probably named after Nimrod shortly after the flood usually is a centaur which could refer to the actual existence of such creatures before the flood. I think the key verses in this connection are verses 11 and 12 where the earth is spoken of as corrupt and that all flesh had corrupted God's way. All flesh includes not just humans but animals as well which could well be a reference to humans having sex with animals or using them in immoral idolatry. God's way that was corrupted likely refers to his decree in Genesis 1 and repeated in the flood story for humans and all animals to reproduce after their own kind, not across kinds as seems to have happened in the corruption of God's way. Also, why would God mention that Noah was perfect in his generations than if this was almost exceptional and many other people alive then weren't perfect in their generations probably by intercourse or breeding with demons as the sons of God or with animals. There was also much violence that raised God's anger as well. In a more up to date note there are already on a limited basis some people that practice or advocate for humans to be intimate with animals as good therapy or a way to get closer to nature that could be leading in this direction again and that will probably escalate in the tribulation. Debasing the institution of marriage by allowing marriage between the same sex of humans instead only of the opposite sex which was God's way could easily be further debased to include marriage between humans and animals. Also with modern current or soon coming technology especially cloning, the different genome projects of different species and other genetics or biotechnology it could soon be possible to create man animal or animal animal across kinds hybrids in the test tube without the necessity or physical intercourse that could also result in hybrids where size difference would natural prohibit these results. Anyway, this could be some other aspects of what Jesus meant when he said the days of the Son of Man would be as the days of Noah. This could well be why God called godly Noah and his family to call out some representatives of the animal kingdom to spare some of each form of life when God would judge the world of that time of the animals and demons and possible animal and demon hybrids with humans as well as wicked humans. The scripture reference to God's appraisal of the world as being wicked, corrupt and violent and beyond salvaging from his judgment before the flood of Noah in Genesis 6 is as follows:
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Genesis 6:5-13
The construction instructions God gave for the ark are quite scientifically sound even by modern standards. This includes the use of pitch inside and outside the ark to make it waterproof. Wood would also be a good material for the ship itself. God also instructed Noah to make rooms or stalls for his family and the animals to maintain order and privacy aboard the ark. The three stories would also help make most efficient use of the space in the ark as it would involve floors about 15 feet high or apart which wouldn't waste space but would give adequate space for even the biggest animals if one floor was higher than the others. Windows would also provide a healthier environment for the people and animals. The doors would allow faster loading of the animals. dimensions God instructed Noah to use for the ark are also very scientifically sound as they are those still used in a modern ocean liner and contrast sharply with the fanciful and unseaworthy dimensions in the ancient Babylonian account of the flood involving a ship that was a cube 300 feet on each side. The dimensions of the ark in the Bible are three hundred cubits long, by fifty cubits wide by thirty cubits high or 450 feet long by 75 feet wide by 45 feet high based on a cubit of 1 1/2 feet or 150 metres long by 25 metres wide by 15 metres high based on a cubit of 1/2 metre. God took full credit for the flood and would dismiss it as just a natural disaster and arranges to preserve the human race through Noah and his family who had been an exception in living righteously for God in a very wicked world of that time. God instructed Noah to take two, male and female of each kind of animals of fowls, cattle (mammals) and creeping things (insects, reptiles and amphibians) to keep them alive in the world after the flood. As some people, Christians and non-Christians have criticized the literal interpretation of this flood account as having it impossible to contain all the species in the ark and to preserve them all it should be pointed out that kinds in the bible are likely much broader than the current scientific term species. For example one kind would include all the different species represented by horses, zebras and donkeys etc. while another kind would include all dogs, coyotes, hyenas, wolves and foxes. Although not macro- evolution or evolution across kinds which isn't scientifically proven even scientific creationists such as myself believe in the scientific validity of microevolution of evolution among kinds. Darwin's finches are their adaptation would be an example of microevolution for example but not at all of macroevolution. Noah also prepared enough appropriate food for his family and all the animals he took into the ark according to God's commandments. The scripture reference in Genesis 6 of Noah's preparations of the ark and all the animals for the ark and his family to preserve man and animals alive through God's judgment on the then corrupt world of humans and also sons of God and animals is as follows:
Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; thee shall be male and female. Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. Genesis 6:14-22
God in verse 1 of this chapter again gives the reason he took Noah and those with him into the Ark for refuge from his judgment of the world by the flood. The reason was that Noah was righteous in God's sight in that generation in which Noah lived implying everybody else, except Noah's wife and Noah's three sons and their wives, were not righteous. God then commanded Noah to bring seven pairs of every clean beast and seven pairs of fowls. The reason for this at least for these beasts and some of the fowls is so Noah could use some of them to give an offering to God in worship and thanksgiving when he got out of the Ark after the waters from the flood had subsided. In Genesis 9 the scripture gives at least one example of Noah doing this although it was probably his regular practice as way of thanksgiving and dedication or worship to God. God left no doubt that he was about to execute his judgment of rain for forty days and forty nights which means continuous torrential rain over all the earth for that period. The time that the waters of the flood actually came were in the 600th year of Noah which was 100 years after God made his pronouncement of judging the world by a flood and ordering Noah to preserve life of man and beast by building an ark as Noah was said to be then 500 years old in Genesis 5:32. Noah showed faith in God and peace in Him by calmly for firmly taking the final steps of obedience of bringing the animals into the Ark and then joining them there before the seven days elapsed although any people watching him would probably be severely mocking him. This would be especially true when there hadn't been rain before in human history but perhaps just a mist from the vapor canopy. People today, Christians or non- Christians should also take the signs of the times pointing to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ first to take his church to heaven, followed by the tribulation, then Jesus' second coming to set up God's kingdom on earth equally seriously and not just assume God will keep putting this time off in grace to the unsaved. This is especially true in view of the prophecy that the generation that saw Israel become a nation would not all pass away until all these things including the tribulation and Jesus' second coming are fulfilled as mentioned in Gospel of Matthew 24. In verse 10 the scripture mentions just as God had foretold after those seven days had elapsed the waters of the flood started upon the earth in the form of the 40 days rain. The scripture reference in Genesis 7 of Noah carrying out the final preparations to preserve animals and human beings according to God's instructions from God's judgments on evil and corrupt humanity in order to restart a more godly remnant of humanity is as follows:
And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him. And Noah was six hundred years old when the waters was upon the earth. And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth, There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God commanded Noah. And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. Genesis 7:1-10.
In verse 11 God repeats that it was in the 600th year of Noah that God's judgment of the flood started. This verse also states that it was on the 17th day of the 2nd month that the flood started. According to a DVD I have by a creation science professor named Mace Baker with the DVD called Scientific Evidence for Noah's Flood he mentions among other things there is still a reference in some of the ancient Egyptian writings of a festival of the dead that the Egyptians observed on the 17th day of the 2nd month that was their month called Ethyr a remembrance was observed for all the people killed by the worldwide flood of Noah that started on that day. This festival was also said by this professor to be observed in the religious ceremonies of other ancient people soon after the flood although much of this observance has died out by now but I believe there are some records of it in the ancient practices of other cultures as well. This is not likely if this was just a local flood or just a myth written by Moses and not the infallible word of God that I and other genuine Christians and Jews believe the Bible to be. It should be noted that on this day not only did the forty days and nights of rain begin over all the earth but also that the fountains of the deep were broken up which could release more water but also cause much earthquakes and volcanoes which would add to the chaos and disruption including of the environment. It was on this day that Noah and his family entered into the ark. This scripture seems to say that the animals also went into the ark on this day although it could mean the animals finished going into the ark on this day as it would seem to demand a lot of time to get all the animals into the ark even if only one pair or seven pairs are required for each kind such as the dog family that would include wolves, coyotes, and probably hyenas and perhaps foxes or the cat family that would include regular cats, lions, tigers, lynxs, jaguars etc. God also said with the forty days rain the waters increased on the earth and ultimately covered every mountain or hill even the highest one over the whole earth by fifteen cubits or between 20 and 25 feet or about 7 1/2 metres. To be accurate and for God's given refuge to the animals on the ark to be worthwhile the flood would have to be worldwide and over all the mountains causing all the other people and animals except some of the fish or sea life to die. However the fountains of the deep being broken up would also kill some of the fish and sea life as we see in the fossil record. According to my video Scientific Evidence for Noah's Flood the fossils give evidence of being produced very rapidly and with cementing agents such as from calcium and silicon as we see in sidewalks and which are often lacking in more recent local floods. These cementing agents would better preserve the effects of the flood. God said clearly all the animals and people were killed except those in the ark and that the waters prevailed or covered the earth even the highest mountains for 150 days. This would certainly guarantee all the other people and animals couldn't survive that weren't in the ark as even birds would not be able to get food very readily. The scripture passage in Genesis 7 of God's judgment of the flood on the corrupt world of mankind and of the animal world in Noah's time and God only preserving human and animal life with those on the ark of Noah is as follows:
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; They and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after his kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort. And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. And they went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in. And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. All all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every main: All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. And the waters prevailed upon the earth and hundred and fifty days. Genesis 7:11-24
God made a promise to Noah and his family that he would spare them and the animals they brought with them from the destructive effects of the flood. He started to show his faithfulness to this promise by making a wind that caused some of the waters to subside but probably a greater effect was God's action then also of stopping or blocking the fountains of the deep from issuing any more water and the windows of heaven from bringing down any more torrential rain. The waters then started to continually retreat until 150 days after probably the beginning of the flood which would include the rain for 40 days and 40 nights the waters over the earth had mostly subsided. The ark then was able to rest on one of the mountains that had been uncovered by the retreating water, namely Mount Ararat in Armenia in what is now Turkey. The waters continued to retreat until the tenth month when the tops of the mountians were seen which could mean that the tops of mountains in general were seen as Mount Ararat and perhaps some of the other highest mountains were already above the water by the seventh month. Alternatively this could mean other mountains in the vicinity of Mount Ararat where Noah landed were now visible. After another forty days Noah opened the windows of the Ark which would be on the 20th day of the 11th month. This indicated that there was any exceptional amount of rain any more. Noah then did an experiment. He first sent a raven which is a scavenger that sometimes feeds on the dead bodies of other animals. In this case there would be many carcases of animals and people floating on the water that had been drowned by the flood. This is probably what is meant by the raven went to and fro until the waters were dried up from the earth. The implication is that the raven did not return to Noah. Then Noah sent forth a dove which is not a scavenger and probably is only a plant eater. The dove did not find any place to rest at that time and returned to Noah on the ark. Noah then repeated his action in another seven days. This time the dove came back with an olive leaf in its mouth. This indicated to Noah that the waters of the flood had retreated enough to uncover land with vegetation. Then Noah kept the dove for another seven days and again sent her out. This time the dove did not return indicating the land had become more fit for Noah and the animals to leave the ark for the new world after the flood. The scripture reference from Genesis 8 of the end of flood and decline of the water of the flood from the earth is as follows:
And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged (withdrew); The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from the earth. Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more. Genesis 8:1-12
In the six hundred and first year of Noah the waters were dried from the earth. This was about 10 1/2 months after the flood started with most of the time requiring the waters to subside and the land to dry. After Noah looked around and saw that the land was dry at this time God spoke to him to come out of the ark to set foot on the earth again. God also instructed Noah to bring his family and the animals of all kinds of beasts, fowls and creeping things to go again on the earth. God also instructed Noah to let the animals and the people breed and multiply as they were going on a renewed earth otherwise void of people or animals and there was much room for greater populations. Noah then went forth out of the ark with his family to the earth and he also brought all the animals out of the ark to the earth. Although it will not be quite as drastic there will be widespread devastation and loss of life both human and animal in the tribulation or 70th week of Daniel with only the righteous people to populate earth in the Messianic or Millennial Kingdom of Messiah Jesus although then there will be many more survivors of the devastation on earth as well as the Church Age saints that will come from heaven with Jesus at the end of the tribulation at Jesus' second coming. I urge the reader to trust in Jesus as your Lord and SAviour that he died for your sins and rose again from the dead to give you new life so you can be taken to heaven at the rapture or catching up of the church and be spared God's judgment of earth and its people in the tribulation. The scripture passage in Genesis 8 of the waters of the flood of Noah having dried up and Noah being instructed by God and carrying out those instructions to come out of the ark with his family and the animals and repopulation the renewed earth is as follows:
And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried. And God spake unto Noah, saying, Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee. Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth. And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him: Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark. Genesis 8:13-19
After Noah landed on the earth and got out of the ark with the animals on the dried earth he used the extra animals of the clean animals that God had instructed him to bring with him on the ark as offerings to God to dedicate himself and his family and the new creation to the Lord. One thing the Lord just showed me as I was reading this passage is that this was probably not just a small number of animals or an offering that went on for a short period of time but probably involved quite a few animals over a considerable period of time. The Lord was pleased with the offering and promised that he would not again curse the ground for man's sake. God also in the flood cursed the ground in a sense with the excessive rain and breaking up the fountains of the deep although the ground was cursed initially for Adams' sin. God reflects that the universal nature of mankind (except for Jesus thought the virgin birth who was the Son of God who became man) is evil from his youth and that God would try to be more accomodating of man so as not to give such as serious judgment again. God also says he will not again smite or kill every living thing as he did at the flood. However this does not mean, as some think, that there will be no more judgment of mankind or the earth involving a considerable number of animals as it is clear especially from the book of revelation that God will bring a very severe judgment on mankind for seven years that will have a significant adverse affect on many animals and on much of the earth but will not come as close to killing all people and animals on earth as the flood of Noah did. God promised he would maintain the seasons including man's productive use of the earth for growing food as long as the earth continues as has been the case now for somewhat over 5000 years. The scripture reference from Genesis 8 of God's covenant with Noah to use human government to rule the earth from after the flood especially to God's covenant with Abraham to make the Jews God's chosen earth people and God's covenant with the nations continuing up to this time is as follows:
And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt-offerings on the altar. And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and dry and night shall not cease. Genesis 8:20-22
Because most of the population of Earth from before the flood, including the human population was wiped out God repeated his instruction he had given to Adam and Eve to multiply or reproduce and fill the earth. This instruction still applies but of course is not as urgent after about 5000 years of human reproduction and migration to fill the earth that has given the earth now more of a problem with overpopulation especially in some places. God then to Noah stated something new that was never stated to Adam or the pre-flood people. This is that all the animals would be afraid of humans and that humans were permitted by God to eat animals. This is still in effect although it could be revoked when the Messianic or Millennial Kingdom is reached and the curse from the flood of animals being afraid of man and wild will be turned back and man will probably return to a mostly vegetarian diet although humans will probably be allowed to eat fish as in Ezekiel 47. However people were not allowed to eat the blood of animals. This restriction is repeated to the church in Acts 15. God stated that he would require the blood shed of humans by other humans and that he commanded capital punishment for those who kill or shed the blood of other humans. God then repeated his instruction to be fruitful and multiply to Noah and his descendents. The scripture reference from Genesis 9 of the main part of the Noachic Covenant is as follows:
And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein. Genesis 9:1-7
In Genesis 9:20-23 there is recounted the story of Noah getting drunk immediately after the flood from the wine from his vineyard where he was an husbandman (gardener). This caused Noah to get drunk and to become uncovered (naked) in his tent. His three sons Shem, Japheth and Ham came and were probably quite alarmed and ashamed to notice their father in this state. However Ham saw his father's nakedness and the other two sons Shem and Japheth then knowing about their father's nakedness but without seeing him in that state moved towards Noah backwards so they wouldn't see him and put a covering over him to cover his nakedness so he wouldn't be a further source of shame. Although Ham did see his father's nakedness, there is no indication he viewed this in a perverted or lustful way and although it is true that Ham is the ancestor of the black or negro people it is not true what some of the white supremacists say that all negro people are cursed because of this incident, it was only the Canaanites who God later directed the Israelites to overthrow in the Land of Canaan or Israel because of their idolatry and immorality not the wider descendents of Ham that bore the curse of God for this incident. It is implied in the scripture especially in verse 18 mentioning Canaan but none of the other grandsons of Noah that Canaan was somehow the author or inciter of this sin of Ham and not Ham himself and so it was Canaan and his descendents not the wider family of Ham that bore God's curse for this incident. This incident probably happened between 3150 and 3100 BC. The scripture reference for this sin of Noah and Ham and Canaan and the commendable behavioiur of Shem and Japheth in Genesis 9 is as follows:
And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan. These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread. And Noah began to be an husbandman (gardener), and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. Genesis 9:18-23
When Noah awoke from his wine (became sober or got over a possible hangover) he was upset with what his son Ham had done but again his anger was directed not so much at Ham and his descendants as to his grandson Canaan and their descendants. Of course it was later the Canaanites not the wider race of Ham the negro people that God ordered the Israelities to exterminate from the promised land that was also called the land of Canaan because that was at least the primary place the Canaanites dwelt in the time God was leading Moses then Joshua to possess the promised land for God and the people of Israel. The descendants of Canaan in Noah's, Joshua's and following time were still a very evil people and worshipped false gods especially the Baals (male or son god) and the Ashtoreths (mother goddess) and partly in connection with this idolatry was quite immoral which angered God. There were however some people who repented and trusted in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob like Rahab and the Gibeonites that were spared because they didn't cling to their sins of idolatry and immorality and were willing to live for God by His law and live holy lives and be at peace with the Israelites who were descendants of Shem from where the term Semitism or anti-Semitism comes from although the Israelites weren't the only Semites. God says the Canaanites will be a servant of servants to his brethren meaning that they would have inferior positions to the descendants of Shem and Japheth. This was certainly the case for the Canaanites who the Israelites couldn't drive out or kill in the promised land as these spared Canaanites were them forced into slavery or manual labour for the Israelites when the Jews had military strength and were obeying God. Any Canaanites among other people were probably also usually servants to the descendants of Shem or Japheth. God also promised he would enlarge Japheth and the fact that people from Europe and probably most of Asia including the Indian subcontinent, the far East and also the First Nations of the Americas most likely come from Japheth is an abundant testimony of the accuracy of this prophecy. Jupiter the name of the leading god of the Romans and Pra Japati or "Father Japheth" in Sanskrit or ancient Indian language are indications the Romans and other Europeans and the Asian Indians traced their ancestry to Japheth. Shem derived people have tended to live in or around the Middle East while descendants of Japheth have spread to many other parts of the world although some descendants of Japheth have lived among the descendants of Shem in the Middle East. The Canaanites have probably also been servants or held lowly if any employment among the areas the descendants of Japheth have settled on Earth as well. This prophecy of Noah and part of God's Covenant with all people of the human race through him was probably also given about 3150 to 3100 BC. Reading it literally there is not really anything said directly about the descendants of Ham other than through Canaan so we can't say anything good or bad about other descendants of Ham although it is worth noting that later in the Old Testament Egypt is called the Land of Ham although this was through his son Mizraim not Canaan with Mizraim being the Hebrew word for Egypt. The scripture reference in Genesis 9 for God's prophecies for the human race through the sons or grandson of Noah are as follows:
And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years. And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died. Genesis 9:24-29
I have recently researched more information on the DNA portions taken from people from many different parts of the world. The DNA are taken from people on both the father's side (from the Y chromosome) and from mitochondrial DNA that is from the mother's side. Although I am just gaining a better understanding of it these DNA samples are taken from DNA portions called Haplotypes. According to the book In Pursuit of the Gene by James Schwartz a Haplotype is a group of "highly correlated alleles". An allele is "a particular form of a gene" according to the Collins Dictionary of Biology. Back to the definition of a Haplotype in the book in Pursuit of the Gene it also says of Haplotypes: "Because each new mutation giving rise to a SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) took place on a chromosome that already contained other SNPs, each new allele became associated with a particular set of nearby alleles (variations of genes). This book also says: "On average, then, each individual (human) contained such a SNP once in every 300 base pairs (pairs of amino acids). Anyway from illustrations of world distribution of composition of haplotypes that are characteristics of different parts of the world the parts of the world with the most variation or component haplotypes that have the widest representation of the rest of the world Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas as well as Australia are clearly in the area bordering the Middle East and Central Asia namely Persia (Iran) and Uzbekistan and certaintly not in Africa. The most obvious and most likely the correct interpretation of this data is that mankind originated in or near Persia and Uzbekistan which would fit the Biblical account that all people originated lastly from the region of Babel and the Tower of Babel in northern Iraq from where God spread out the human race when they built the Tower of Babel and God judged the human race by confusing their language and creating at least the original version of all the languages of all people of earth. This indication that the people with the widest variety of haplotypes both on the father's and mother's side are around Iran or Uzbekistan are inconsistant with the evolutionary model of origins that says mankind came out of Africa. As especially from southern Africa where Lucy and some other ape-man links are said to come from shows little or no representation of most haplotypes or gene variations of people from most part of Europe, the Americas and even many parts of Asia. These graphs can be found by a Google search of haplotypes worldwide distribution or perhaps the HapMap project and are produced by a Mr. McDonald. The conclusion of these world maps of Haplotype distribution and compositions more showing a common ancestor from around Iraq or Uzbekistan is that the biblical accound that sees mankind coming from the region of northern Iraq where Babel was and spreading out from there as more scientific than the evolutionary model of mankind coming from Africa and spreading out to the rest of the world. If there was a data sample from Iraq especially northern Iraq it might also show significant variation on both the maternal and paternal side of the DNA of people from that region as well although some of the original people from there could have migrated a little to the east to Iran or north to Uzbekistan in the 5000 years or so since the building of the Tower of Babel and the dispersal of man throughout the earth after the flood of Noah. Aschmann with some world maps that show and describe the probable origins of major nations or ethnic groups of the world. This article in both the maps and text and diagram description describes the probable origin based on genetics, languages, the Bible and other basis of the nations or major ethnic groups of the world and their position in the world and their probable ancient migrations routes from the Middle East where we as human beings after the flood of Noah all likely came from in the region in Sumer (Shinar) around the tower of Babel. Mr. Aschmann himself was a missionary and a linguist with Wycliffe Bible Translators but was not himself a geneticist but co-operated with geneticists who were likely Christians in the United States and perhaps elsewhere to produce the article and maps The Genesis 10 Table of Nations and Y-Chromosomal DNA a PDF article.
